Here is a note about passwords - one of the most confusing parts of getting all this going.
There are three places where passwords may be required for winlink operations:
1. BASE ACCOUNT PASSWORD - Winlink web mail access - Like any web mail system there is a security concern to keep your e-mail account from being accessed by anyone else. The password used for your winlink web mail access is referred to in these assignments as your BASE ACCOUNT PASSWORD and is associated with your call letters when setting up for web mail access in Lesson #5.
2. E-MAIL PASSWORD - Set up in Post Office/Properties window - this one is NOT a security issue, but is required by Outlook Express and some other e-mail clients. The E-MAIL PASSWORD is established in E-Mail Assignment #6 when you first configure the Post Office/Properties window and is associated with the "Callsign" for this Paclink AGW site and becomes the Outlook Express e-mail account password for the Paclink AGW site. (Paclink AGW is configured in Lesson #7.)
3. PASSWORD FOR BASE CALLSIGN - In the Post office/Properties window there is a second place for a password "Password for Base Callsign." This field is normally left blank when first setting up the Post Office/Properties window. This is the same password that is used for web mail access "BASE ACCOUNT PASSWORD" above. It is only needed when setting up a call sign for Post Office Properties that uses an SSID.
