LESSON #1 - Collecting Information and Cataloging Equipment ESTIMATED TIME REQUIRED - 10 Minutes or less INFORMATION: In this lesson you will learn if the computer-associated equipment you have available is sufficient for downloading, installing, and configuring the several programs that will be used for packet and the Winlink 2000 (WL2K) E-mail over ham radio system. It is not necessary for you to have any radio equipment or data controller/TNC to compete this lesson (or this workshop!) You will also introduce yourself to the group. IMPORTANT CONVENTION: Please post your emails to the group by selecting an email to the whole list, and clicking your "reply to all" button. This creates a new mail form adressed to everyone in the group. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Internet-capable computer running MS Win2000 or XP operating system. Win98 will work with some but not all software. It's an old system, even for ham radio these days. Virus scanning for outgoing e-mails. OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS: Amateur Radio license of any class. Reasonable facility with browsing the internet, downloading files from the internet and saving to the computer, and "installing" programs from the downloaded file(s.)
